Candidacy

We accept candidates on a quarterly basis via our public course offerings. Hiring is contingent on possessing the baseline knowledge of NFPA Rope and Confined Space Rescue to the Operations level. This training can be achieved by taking our NFPA Rope I/II Operations in combination with our NFPA Confined Space Rescue course. We also offer a hybrid 6 day Industrial Rescue Technician course which combines both rescue disciplines. These courses are the primary vehicles in which candidates with limited background or experience can be onboarded. This approach ensures operational capability and technical consistency across our Teams.

All candidates assume the cost of these courses upfront, however, we do offer full reimbursement to those that are selected upon completion of a probationary period (500 hours of work). Our training staff will evaluate candidates throughout the course to determine ability levels and suitability for our teams. Candidate selection is ultimately focused on character, coach-ability and initiative.

Those interested in joining our Team will need to submit a current resume and letter of recommendation from a recent employer at the time of registration.

Direct Entry

For those with prior training and experience, a direct entry track exists. A performance based assessment can be used to challenge the curriculum of either the Rope or Confined Space rescue course to the Operations level. An evaluation fee is assessed at the time of registration to cover the cost of evaluator and mock team members/patients during the assessment. This fee is also reimbursed upon hire and completion of the probationary period (500 hours of work). This assessment will have each candidate lead a small rescue team through the fundamental maneuvers of rope and confined space rescue and will include a section on patient care.

Allow for up to 4 hours to complete the evaluation, which will include select exercises from the NFPA JPR’s for Rope and Confined Space in addition to a written exam. These JPR’s (job performance requirements) our outlined in the NFPA 1006/2500 standard.

There is a minimum 2 week notification period for those interested in direct entry. Requests can be sent to operations@liferescueinc.com with “Direct Entry Request” as the email heading.
